SAA Committee Descriptions
2009-2010
Special Events Committee
Every fall SAA organizes Sundaes on Saturday, an event for Ambassadors and
their families during Family Weekend. This social event allows Ambassadors'
families to meet and greet SAA Ambassadors and Advisers over a bowl of ice cream.
Apple Polishers is an annual event that allows each Ambassador to recognize an
UNI faculty or staff member who has had a positive influence on their life.
During the event, each Ambassador takes a few minutes to share their memories
and give thanks to their Apple Polisher. The Apple Polishers Committee is
responsible for organizing the event, selecting a location, ordering food,
& preparing decorations, gifts, and invitations.
This committee is also responsible for organizing the sale of rose bouquets
during UNI graduation ceremonies in December and May. The duties of this
committee include ordering the roses from Blossom Express, transporting
roses to Redeker Center from the Admissions Office upon delivery, and
soliciting volunteers to sell roses at commencement. This is one of the
only SAA fundraisers throughout the year and is vital to the success of
the group. This committee also works with the Registrar's office to
organize and arrange banner carriers at each commencement ceremony.
