I chose UNI because it was just the right size, the campus was beautiful and they have a great education program.
The best thing about UNI is the people here. Everyone is welcoming and friendly.
The thing that surprised me most about UNI was the small class sizes and how the professors are so helpful and easy to contact outside of class. I thought most of my classes would be huge lectures, but they haven't been and most of my professors are very helpful and easy to contact outside of class.
On campus I am involved in campus ministries, I am volunteering to help plan the UNI Dance Marathon, and I work at the WRC. These activities enrich my overall college experience because I have met so many great people through them and they help me grow as a person and add to my academic experience.
I am happy with my major choice and my academic experience has been great so far. My freshman year I took a class called Children's Literature with Mrs. Murphy. I loved this class and she was one of my favorite professors. You could tell she was passionate about what she taught and her enthusiasm was contagious. This was one of the main reasons why I changed my minor to literacy.
What I like best about my major is the field experiences that are involved with it. The education program at UNI involves a lot of time in the classroom that really helps me gain knowledge and experience for teaching.
At UNI I am gaining valuable knowledge relating to my field of study and building friendships that will last a lifetime.
My favorite place on campus is the WRC. I love to be active and there is so much to do there from rock climbing and swimming, to working out and so much more.
My advice for high school students is to find a balance between school work and your social life. Both are important but one shouldn't be neglected for the other. Also, get involved with organizations and activities right away. It's a great way to meet people who have the same interests as you.
Years from now what I will remember most about UNI is the people and friends that I have met here and the special events I attended such as the NCAA men's basketball team making the Sweet Sixteen.
Yes, they have answered all my questions and have been very helpful when I needed help with my financial aid.
With my UNI education I plan to teach either 4th or 5th grade.
