Admissions: Purple & Gold Scholarships
UNI offers several scholarships specifically for out-of-state students:
- Students may accept the $2,000 Purple & Gold Scholarship.
- Students whose parent(s), grandparent(s) or legal guardian(s) have graduated from UNI may be awarded an additional $1,000 Legacy Scholarship.
New Freshman Eligibility Requirements for Initial Award:
- Successfully complete a college preparatory curriculum in high school.
- Take the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). UNI's average ACT composite score is 23.
- Must be admitted unconditionally to the University of Northern Iowa.
Transfer Student Eligibility Requirements for Initial Award:
- Fulfill UNI transfer admission requirements.
- Must be admitted unconditionally to the University of Northern Iowa.
Eligibility Requirements for Continued Award:
- Maintain full-time status, defined as 12 credit hours or more.
- Scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years by earning and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or above and continuing to maintain out-of-state residency.
To Apply:
The first step is to apply for admission to the University of Northern Iowa. Once your application is received,
and you have been admitted to the University, you will automatically be considered for the Purple & Gold Scholarship.
Expect to be notified of your selection approximately seven to ten days after you are admitted.
