Richard Utz is a Professor of Early English Literature and Language in the University of Northern Iowa's Department of English Language and Literature, where he teaches English literature and culture from Chaucer through Chatwin. His scholarship centers on medieval studies, medievalism, the history of English studies as a discipline, the interdisciplinary study of late medieval philosophy, theology, and literature, and the formation of cultural memories and identities.
