Call for Papers

The organizers of Culture and the Medieval King, a one-day conference on April 13 , 2007, for graduate students and advanced undergraduate students, invite proposals (200 to 350 words) for paper presentations on all cultural manifestations of King Arthur and Arthuriana in the Middle Ages as well as in postmedieval times. The conference, which will take place on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa and is organized in connection with a graduate seminar on the "Arthurian Legend," wants to provide a venue for interdisciplinary scholarly communication for students roughly within driving distance of the University of Northern Iowa. -- We are also inviting colleagues and students to organize entire sessions on specific topics. For those sessions, if at all possible, presenters should not all come from the same institution. For sessions in which all three presenters come from the same institution, an outside respondent will be appointed. Proposals for sessions should be 300 to 400 words in length. -- For reasons of space and finances, conference participation will be limited to around 25 to 30 presenters. A selection committee, consisting of UNI faculty and graduate students, will read and judge all submissions. All presentations are limited to 20 minutes, and sessions shall consist of three, in exceptional cases four, presenters.

The deadline for submissions has passed and we can no longer consider proposals for presentations. We are looking forward to welcoming all accepted participants on the UNI campus on April 13.
