While in Tegucigalpa, students visited COFADEH an organization for the families of the people who disappeared in the early 80's when they questioned the governments activities. The lady standing next to Keven Simmer is a mother who lost her son. The pictures are of those who disappeared.

The first day in Las Mercedes del Rio Colorado, the students visited the community homes scattered around the mountains.

Team members Libby, Jason W., and Carrie work with community members to dig dirt for making adobe block.

Paul and Stephenie wire reinforcement columns for the houses.

Students working on their journals outside the church where we lived for 8 days.

Jacque and Libby reading and coloring with the children.

The adobe blocks are made by compression in the machine on the right. The machine can compress 2 blocks a minute. It takes 2100 blocks per house. The community has 29 houses in the current project.

Leonardo the construction foreman explains the UNI team how the adobe house will be completed after we depart. Each house will have a living room, kitchen and large bedroom. One "window" which is basically an opening with a shutter will be located in each room.

Children enjoyed breaking the two piñatas during the fiesta before cake and soda was enjoyed by all. UNI students then played games with the children.

At the end of the course, students went to Copan to visit the Mayan Ruins, enjoy some shopping and see another view of Honduras. Here the tour guide explains a sacrificial alter to the team.
