General Statement on Programs

The Laboratory School Educational Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC) is comprised of parents, school personnel, students and community members. Its purpose is to insure that multicultural, nonsexist concepts are infused into all curriculum, philosophy statements, program goals and objectives, suggested instructional activities, materials and content, and the evaluation of student achievement.

The EEAC has a series of long range (five year) and short-range (one year) goals designed to address all aspects of teaching and learning, instruction, facility usage, faculty and staff employment. The EEAC will annually submit a revised list of shortage goals to the Parent Advisory Committee for approval.

The EEAC has also implemented a plan for Multicultural, Nonsexist Curriculum Infusion through the establishment of five Educational Objectives and will work through the PLS Program Committee to assure implementation. In addition to providing oversight for the school's equity activities, the EEAC will serve as a resource for administration and faculty.

The EEAC will work with the appropriate school groups to address equity-related issues in all areas. It will incorporate philosophy statements and reference additional materials from these areas into this Educational Equity Plan.

The EEAC will work with the PLS administration, faculty and staff to develop inservice activities designed to attain and maintain the knowledge, skills and sensitivities necessary to implement multicultural, nonsexist approaches in all areas of responsibility .

Educational Equity Advisory Committee Bylaws

Section I. Purpose

The purpose of the Educational Advisory Committee (EEAC) is to make recommendations to the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) and the Price Laboratory School (PLS) administration in order to:

Section II. Membership

The EEAC will consist of 10-15 members serving 3-year terms. Parents, school personnel, students and community members may volunteer to serve. A balance of males and females, ethnic minority representation, and the diversity evident within the student population should exist. School personnel representation should not exceed parental representation on the committee. The Parents and Teachers in Partnership (PTP) President is an ex-officio member of the committee as outlined in the PTP Bylaws.

Section III. Officers

Officers for the committee shall be chair, co-chair, and secretary. They will be responsible for the functioning of the committee in accordance with the bylaws.

  1. Officers may be self-nominated or nominated by committee members.
  2. Officers for the committee shall be elected by committee vote.
  3. Officers for the EEAC shall be elected for a term of one (1) year.
  4. An officer may be re-elected to office or may be eligible for another elected office.
  5. The election of officers for the coming year shall be conducted at the April meeting.

Section IV. Meetings

The EEAC shall meet once per month September through May. Members who miss two consecutive meetings will be contacted to determine their continued interest in serving on the committees. Additional meetings may be called by the Chair.

Section V. Policies

These bylaws shall be adopted by the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).

Section VI. Amendments

An amendment to these bylaws may be proposed by any committee member. The proposed amendment shall be to all members at least two (2) weeks before the regular meeting during which the amendment will be voted on. These bylaws may be amended by a unanimous vote of a quorum at a regular meeting.
